Episode 5: Trusting Ourselves + The Journey with Steph Jagger

Episode Template-2.png

Steph Jagger is a force of nature. She believes, rather foolhardily, in the following mantra: Know Thyself, Choose Thyself, Make Shit Happen.

She is an author, speaker, coach, and world record smasher who lives on Bainbridge Island (otherwise known as Jurassic). She holds a CEC (certified Executive Coach) degree from Royal Roads University and she believes purposeful living doesn’t happen with one toe dangling in, but that we jump in, fully submerge, and sit in the juice. Think pickle, not cucumber.

In 2010 she began a journey that found her walking that exact talk, or perhaps a better way of putting it would be “skiing that exact talk.” From July of that year to May of 2011 Steph chased winter around the globe. She wound up breaking the record for the most vertical feet skied in a year. Post-journey Steph penned a memoir, which was released by Harper Collins in 2017 – the book is called Unbound: A Story of Snow and Self-Discovery.

She now runs a program called The Great Big Journey and partners with brands like REI to help empower women around the globe.

You know that ice breaker question "if you had to invite 5 inspiring people to a dinner party who would they be?" We hands down would choose Steph Jagger.   She is a dynamic soul and fierce storyteller who you can't help but want to lean in and listen to every single word she shares.

We chat with Steph about how her book, "Unbound: A Story of Snow and Self-Discovery" and  her coaching program, The Great Big Journey inspired and influenced us both on our own journeys.   As she reminds us, "I'm a memoir writer, it's my job to keep it real" and there's no question that she does.

Steph blows our minds with her explanation of how her tolerance for other people's bullshit has increased and why.  She shares with us her own journey with being a memoir writer and coach as well as sharing what she is courageously working on, including a sneak peak into her new book.  Steph keeps it real by sharing how she sometimes struggles with staying connected to herself depending on her season of life, and how that's okay.

S1 E5: Trusting Ourselves + The Journey with Steph Jagger

"Doing something courageous,

going on an adventure,

YES to adventure:

It is simply

the thing that is just outside

your comfort zone.

We dive into the shadows of our humanness by talking about navigating grief and loss. Steph identifies as being a narrative processor and shares how she feels drawn tell a story about her own experiences in order to begin to comprehend it. She gives so much insight into the courage and bravery behind how we choose to grieve and how important it is to honor our own process.

Although this episode is not sponsored by Annie's Mac n Cheese (but hey, we wouldn't say no to that!), we all share our affinity for this staple food choice while talking about Steph's dreamy PNW homestead that she has dubbed, "Jurassic".  Tune into this episode to hear more from Steph Jagger and be sure to check out how she is living her mantra out loud and being the adventure guide for brave humans on their own great big journey.
